As there always existed a keen interest in human behaviour and
mental health, Lorraine Stuyt pursued a BSc in Psychology with a
minor in Biology and Chemistry at Wilfrid Laurier University. Utmost
intrigue was then found in the study of Human Health. When the idea
was presented of practicing a medicine that combined both body and
mind she quickly found herself enrolled at the Canadian College
of Naturopathic Medicine. Lorraine became a licensed Naturopathic
Doctor upon graduation from CCNM in 2005.
As a lover of the outdoors, Lorraine places great importance on
environmental health in terms of the identification of heavy metal
toxicity and chemical sensitivity and the implications of such on
endocrine (hormonal) health, cancer, autoimmune conditions and the
neurological system. Several specialized labs are employed in her
practice that assess various abnormalities including hormone and
neurotransmitter imbalances, heavy metal toxicity, gluten intolerances
and food sensitivities among many others. She incorporates treatment
modalities including, but not exclusive to, botanical medicine,
supplementation according to functional medicine, acupuncture, hydrotherapy
and mistletoe (HELIXOR) injections for cancer therapy.
Lorraine is an avid volleyball player, a member of PERC (Ottawa
Peace and Environment Resource Cenre) and is a volunteer basketball
coach with Christie Lake Kids. Look for her monthly newsletter "A
Letter to Steward" that will be soon published in print and
via e-mail.
